Mayor Jean Quan joined the discussion. Hear what the panel, community and the Mayor had to say.

In collaboration with Stopping Our Silence (S.O.S.) we presented our first community screening with a Q and A discussion April 16th at the East Oakland Youth Development Center.  Our panel included Chris Lymbertos of Generation Five, Bill Burmester who counsels male survivors of child sexual abuse, Angel Cassidy who is the co-Founder of SAGE and people in the film, Karinne Hernandez and Aqueila Lewis.

We received much community support and interest. The rough cut of the trailer sparked discussion and solutions surrounding child sexual abuse. You can watch the video clips posted to learn more.

Generation Five shared there radical approach and how to hold abusers accountable, Bill Burmester shared his practice in counseling male survivors and the importance of community, Angel Cassidy shared her story of being a sexually exploited minor and how this led her to SAGE.

We are only getting started and the support received is extraordinary. Many individuals, non-profits, faith community and stakeholders have requested a screening and Q and A discussion to be held in their community.

I look forward to the upcoming events and seeing you there!

Warmly,
